Belong to Me, by Marissa de los Santos

April 13, 2009

I loved this book, as well as the prequel (sort of) called Love Walked In.  She’s  a wonderful writer, and writes very rich, vivid characters. I actually find the way she writes child characters especially compelling.  This author has  become like Ann Patchett and Alice Hoffman for me — a must read.

Available as an ebook and audiobook on Hoopla and an audiobook on Libby/Overdrive.

Belong to Me

The Comfort of Our Kind by Tom Stoner

I LOVED this book.   It is so different — a storyline that in other hands I don’t think I would like. A nun marries a tv clown, has 3 children she promises to train to be part of the army of saints… not what I would normally choose. But, the story is great, there is a wonderful sense of humor to the whole thing, and it takes place in NH.   After I read it, someone else said that it is like a twist on The Devil and Daniel Webster.
One of my absolute favorite recent reads.
